LessonSpeak was born out of necessity. One day, Johnny decided to source worksheets for conversational English for English speaking courses to be taught online so that he could teach learners who need conversational business English. Considering his background as an entrepreneur, he was well-versed in teaching business and was committed to teaching only this. He knew his niche and stuck with it. When he couldn’t find quality curriculum to teach this niche, he had to make his own ESL worksheets for adults,

At first, the workflow for making worksheets for conversational English was unfamiliar to Johnny. He never made conversational business English pdfs in this way and the workflow was different. On top of this, his early content was straight trash quality. In fact, it was no better than what was already out there. Johnny was confident in his business English curriculum and started pumping out consistent content. Johnny wanted to make LessonSpeak a startup and went to hackathons, competitions, and networking events to find collaborators. All for naught. LessonSpeak had to take a chill pill and settle for what it truly is. 

Since 2018, Johnny has been regularly publishing content to be used in online English speaking courses while also managing all other aspects of what it means to run an online business. He created an online community for freelance online English teachers, a website for LessonSeak, a course on Udemy, and continues giving out endless advice on various online forums. However, without the help of some software LessonSpeak will never truly scale at the rate that we are shooting for.

The next steps are to provide a software solution based on customer feedback. At the moment, that means automated content creation and providing visual feedback for learners based on how well they speak. Implementing AI, machine learning, and other complex systems seem like viable long term solutions for LessonSpeak.
